General Cigar Company acquired Macanudo and the Macanudo production factory in 1968. Beginning as a small family owned company, with Edgar Cullman at the reigns, he reworked the initial blend starring his father's beloved Connecticut shade wrapper. Including a blend of well aged tobaccos, the new Macanudo was released in 1971.

Macanudo's lineup is a small, yet impressive, listing of smokes for every aficionado. Diverse in taste and strength, each cigar is aged to perfection. Master blenders handpick each leaf and blend each cigar according to the individual cigars’ recipe. Selection includes strict requirements according to size, colour, texture, and strength to name a few.

Macanudo is one of General Cigar Company's most prestigious brands for good reason. Tobacco leaves are air cured for 30 days, with additional fermentation lasting upwards of six months. The Connecticut shade wrappers are aged for a minimum of two years, and then placed in Dominican rum barrels to mature further, picking up distinct flavours and nuances. Finally Macanudo employs a technique often skipped by other brands. The finished cigars are placed in cedar lined rooms to age further. With quality and aging like this, it's unsurprising the Café received a Cigar Aficionado rating of 90, making it another stick you don't want to miss out on.
