Montecristo cigars are not among the oldest Cuban brands, but their history is just as rich. In 1935 Alonso Menendez purchased an old cigar factory known for making the popular Particulares brand. Taking inspiration from the Torcedores favourite book, the Montecristo brand was born.

Montecristos’ impressive array of blends and vitolas can be separated into specific releases and lines. Linea Clasica, Linea Open, and in 2006, Montecristo Petit Edmundo. Each cigar in these lines uses select tobaccos from the Vuelta Abajo region of Cuba making for truly unforgettable smokes.

In June of 2015 the Media Corona was released as part of the Hunter and Frankau Anniversary Celebration in Havana. Following the current trends of heavier gauges yet short smokes, the half corona has been introduced into the Linea Clasica. Evolving from medium and sweet with caramel and coffee notes, to full, peppery, and woody, this new vitola will be an instant favourite.
